Another year in the books! 2025 brought multiple engagement opportunities and new improvements to the GRIIDC site. Here are some of GRIIDC’s highlights of the year!

January

GRIIDC started the year off strong with a presentation from Rosalie Rossi, GRIIDC Program Manager, to the National Academies of Sciences Gulf Research Program, one of our partners, about the GRIIDC website, GRP Data Management Policy, and the importance of data sharing.

February

The GRIIDC development team made updates and improvements to the Harte Research Institute (HRI) subsite. The subsite allows for a centralized location of HRI data products.

March

GRIIDC virtually attended the Gulf of America (GOAA) Data & Monitoring Team quarterly meeting. The team focused on advancing collaborative efforts to improve data collection, accessibility, and integration across the Gulf region, reaffirming their commitment to supporting science-based decision making and sustainable resource management.

April

GRIIDC participated in Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi’s Research and Innovation Month 2025, highlighting the breadth and impact of its work within the Island University community.

Research and Innovation Month Showcase: GRIIDC engaged with faculty, staff, and students, highlighting the data repository’s features. The event included networking, interactive exhibits, and opportunities to learn more about Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi research.

Evening Programming Participation: GRIIDC also took part in evening Research and Innovation Month activities, further expanding visibility and engagement across campus audiences.

May

GRIIDC attended the Gulf of America Alliance All Hands meeting in Biloxi, Mississippi, from May 5 – 8, 2025. GRIIDC hosted an exhibit booth, participated in the Tools Café, and attended Data and Monitoring team meetings throughout the event.

Rosalie presented information about GRIIDC services and data sharing benefits to students in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association Center for Coastal and Marine Ecosystems-II. The program educates students in science, technology, engineering, and math regarding interdisciplinary methods to address issues related to coastal and marine systems.

June

GRIIDC advanced its Map Search functionality, reinforcing spatial data discovery and improving user access to geographically referenced datasets. These enhancements strengthened the platform’s ability to support interdisciplinary research and exploration.

A data management training webinar was provided to one of GRIIDC’s partners, the Florida RESTORE Act Centers of Excellence Program.

July

GRIIDC gave a guest lecture at the Big Data Blitz 2025, a high-impact initiative that teaches graduate students about big data science, data communication, and the integration of stakeholder needs into science. The event encouraged researchers to submit and publish datasets efficiently, reinforcing best practices in data sharing and open science.

August

GRIIDC participated in the GRP Fellows Program and Conference, highlighting the work of emerging researchers and fostering professional development in data management and research communication. The program strengthened connections between fellows, mentors, and the broader research data community.

October

GRIIDC participated in the TAMU-CC President’s Circle visit, engaging with institutional leadership and stakeholders to highlight the value of data infrastructure, stewardship, and long-term research investment.

November

The Harte Research Institute (HRI) hosted the Seaside Soiree in Port Aransas, Texas to celebrate HRI’s 25th anniversary. The formal dinner honored past HRI researchers, and Harte family members were in attendance.

December

GRIIDC closed the year with a national presence at the AGU Fall Meeting. Rosalie presented “Into the Void: Bridging Data Silos with Interoperable Repositories,” showcasing GRIIDC’s leadership in interoperability, data integration, and collaborative research infrastructure.
